    Frequently Asked Questions
Are your products made of real silk?
Yes, all of our products are made of 100% Pure Mulberry Silk.
What does 6A grade 22 momme Mulberry silk mean?
Silk is graded on a scale from A (the highest) to C (the lowest), each letter referencing a different type of silk product quality. The Number takes the grading a step further. Our pillowcases are graded 6A - the highest quality of Mulberry silk you can get.
Because silk is so fine, it has to be very finely woven. So instead of thread count, silk fabrics use momme (that's the weight of a 100 yard bolt of 45” silk). Momme can range anywhere from 15-momme to 30-momme. Our pillowcases are 22 momme, which guarantees that the pillowcases are lightweight, yet still thick and durable.
Mulberry Silk is created by silkworms who feed on mulberry leaves. The silk they spin their cocoons into is then used as silk in silk products. Mulberry Silk is the best silk you can buy for textile purposes.
How to look after silk products?
Please follow these instructions to help maintain the softness of your silk items. Keep in mind that it is natural for silk’s sheen to slightly decrease after washing.
Always wash silk in cold water.
Do not use harsh detergents that contain bleaches or brighteners.
    Do not use fabric softeners.
Whether hand or machine washing, use cold water.
Air drying is recommended - silk is moisture-wicking therefore dries quickly.
Can you wash them in a washing machine?
If machine washing, make sure to use the delicate cycle only. Keep in mind that the center agitator can damage silk products. We recommend placing garments in a mesh washing bag or turning inside out.
If you wish to tumble dry, use an air-only cycle or delicate – low heat cycle for no longer than 10 minutes.
Are silk pillowcases better than cotton?
Yes. A cotton pillowcase, no matter how high the thread count will cause friction to your hair.
Silk creates a smooth, slick surface that is much gentler for your hair. Studies have shown that friction from tossing and turning causes creases in the skin, but dermatologists say that a silky smooth surface can reduce this effect in the long run.
What is the difference between silk and satin?
Satin is made of a blend of fibers, mostly synthetic materials, whereas silk is 100% natural. Satin products are often cheaper than pure silk, yet they lack the benefits that silk offers.
Some silk pillowcases are lined with cotton. Is this the case with your products?
No, our pillowcases are made of silk only.
    why silk?
    Better Sleep
100% Pure Mulberry Silk feels nothing but luxurious. As you rest your head on a soft silk pillowcase, you will feel a sense of calmness wash over you. This will help you fall asleep faster and get more restful sleep. Try pairing it with a sleep mask - a perfect combo for a good night’s sleep.
    Optimal Temperature
Silk’s natural properties help regulate your body temperature, which makes silk pillowcases perfect for any season. When it is cold, the air is captured between silk threads, and the heat inside creates an isolation effect making it perfectly warm for cold winter nights. However, silk naturally is cool to the touch and will reduce sweating throughout the night (great for those with hot flushes!). Silk adapts to your body and keeps a steady temperature.
    Improved Skin
Silk naturally has moisture-wicking properties, so a silk pillowcase does not draw away moisture, thus preventing your skin from drying out. Build-up of sweat and oils can cause or worsen acne, but because silk is non-absorbent, it prevents this build-up from getting trapped in between the threads. Silk is also gentle on the skin, so it prevents sleep creases from forming, so in the long run, the smooth surface helps minimize the appearance of new fine lines and wrinkles. Silk has dust-mite and mold repelling properties, making it perfect for anyone who suffers from asthma or allergies. This also makes it suitable for sensitive skin - silk pillowcase can be highly beneficial for those suffering from eczema or sensitive skin conditions.
    Hair Benefits
Silk is smooth, so you slide onto your pillowcase. This reduces friction and rubbing, which causes hair frizz. Our pillowcases are 22 momme, which means they are tightly woven, preventing hair from getting tangled between the threads. It doesn’t absorb your natural hair and skin oils like cotton, so it leaves both looking fresh!
