    Description

Set of 2 mint new-old-stock Joseph Gillott’s 659 crowquill nibs from the famous Blue Willow box circa late 1800s. These nibs feature the beautiful rare double hand-grind. They are extremely fine and very flexible. Joseph Pennell, writing in 1889 in “Pen Drawing and Pen Draughsman”, said:
“The most useful all-around pen I know of is Gillott’s Crow Quill 659, which, when once you have mastered it, can be used with the utmost freedom for anything, from the boldest to the most delicate line. It is almost like a living thing; it springs and responds to every impulse of your hand.”
    Box is not included.
Crow quill nibs require a crow quill holder like the ubiquitous Hunt holder, which can be purchased at most art supply stores or online.
